How qualification works in West Virginia
West Virginia has a statewide standard that is stricter than the federal floor. Under Title 149, Series 2 of the West Virginia Code of State Rules (149 CSR 2, Governor's Committee on Crime, Delinquency and Correction), § 149-2-10 requires law enforcement officers to complete firearms qualification twice per year (semi-annually), separated by at least 3 months, with at least one of the two required to be a low-light qualification. The course of fire is a minimum of 32 rounds at ranges from 3 to 15 yards. Authority for the standard traces to W. Va. Code § 30-29-3.
