HR218.us ("HR218.us," "we," "us") is an independent directory of LEOSA (H.R. 218, 18 U.S.C. § 926C) annual-qualification providers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any government agency. This policy explains what information we collect when you use this site, why, and what choices you have.

Browsing the directory

You can search and browse every listing, state-requirements page, and company profile on this site without creating an account or submitting any personal information. We don't require sign-in to use the directory.

The "Remind Me" renewal reminder (optional)

If you choose to sign up for an email reminder ahead of your LEOSA renewal date, we collect only:

The email address you provide
The renewal date you tell us
The state you select, if you choose to select one (optional)
The IP address and timestamp of your signup, and which version of this consent language you agreed to — kept as proof of consent, not used for any other purpose

We do not ask for your name, agency, or badge number for this feature, and we don't collect anything beyond what's listed above. This information is used solely to send you a single reminder email ahead of your stated renewal date, with a link to browse providers and a link to unsubscribe. We send that email through a third-party transactional email provider acting only on our instructions — [ESP name, to be added once selected].

Retention. If you unsubscribe, your signup record — email, renewal date, and everything else collected with it — is deleted immediately. Otherwise, your record is automatically deleted 90 days after your reminder email is sent. We don't keep this data longer than that, and we don't use it for marketing, resell it, or share it with anyone other than the email provider needed to deliver the message itself.

Claiming a region (ranges, instructors, academies)

If you're a provider and visit a "claim your region" page, this site makes a server-to-server availability check with our licensing partner, LeadCore, using only the county and category you're viewing — no personal information about you is sent at that step. If you go on to actually claim a region, you'll do that directly through LeadCore's own site, which has its own privacy policy governing the business and payment information it collects from you at that point.

Listing your business ("List your business" / ZIP availability check)

If you check region-license availability by ZIP code, we send only the ZIP code and category you entered to our licensing partner, LeadCore — no personal information about you is sent at that step. If you submit the "List your business" sign-up form, we collect your organization name, your name, email, phone (if provided), the state you're based in (if provided), and, for categories where it's relevant, the states you say you can qualify LEOSA for. We use this solely to follow up about listing your business or program and, where applicable, to tell you how to claim a region license. We don't sell this information or share it with anyone outside HR218.us.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't show a cookie-consent banner because we don't set any non-essential ones. The only cookie this site sets is a strictly-necessary CSRF-protection cookie when you submit a form, which exists to keep the form secure and isn't used to track you.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free measurement tool that reports aggregate traffic (pages viewed, approximate location by country, referring sites) without fingerprinting or tracking individual visitors across sites. We also use Google Search Console, which reports how this site appears in Google Search results (impressions, clicks, queries) — Search Console does not add any tracking to this site or collect data from your visit; it reports on Google's own search data.

Information we don't collect

We don't sell personal information, run ad-retargeting campaigns, or build cross-site advertising profiles. Directory listings (ranges, instructors, academies, agency programs) contain business information we've researched or verified from public sources — not personal information about you as a visitor.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from a reminder signup at any time using the link in the reminder email, which deletes your record immediately. To ask what information we hold about you or to request its deletion directly, contact us at [email protected] [confirm this address before publish]. If you're a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or other state resident with statutory privacy rights, those rights apply to the limited information described above the same way — we don't sell data, so most sale/share opt-out rights don't apply to anything we do today.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for retired and separated law enforcement officers and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
