How qualification works in Michigan

Michigan has a statewide standard. Retired officers must demonstrate compliance with Michigan's Active Duty Firearms Standard at an MCOLES-approved regional Training/Test Center — a course with both an educational component (seven behaviorally based outcomes) and a standard course of fire. A LEOSA certificate/identification card issued on successful completion is valid for one year and must be renewed annually, and retired officers must also pass an annual criminal history background check to obtain or retain the card.
