How qualification works in Maine

Maine has a dedicated statewide mechanism built specifically for separated/retired officers under LEOSA. The Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) Board of Trustees' Specification S-38, "Separated Officers' Certification of Firearms Training & Qualification" (adopted 11-08-2019), governs annual qualification on an MCJA Board-approved course of fire, using the firearm the retiree will carry. The certification is valid for one year.
