How qualification works in Kansas

Kansas has a statewide standard, and its own statute names retirees explicitly. KSA 74-5607 directs the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (KSCPOST) to establish "a course of fire as a standard qualification for active law enforcement officers to carry firearms that may also be used for qualified retired officers to carry firearms pursuant to federal law." The KSCPOST course (adopted 8/2/05) is 50 rounds, with a minimum passing score of 70% (35 hits or more), required annually during the Training Year (July 1 - June 30).
