How qualification works in Georgia
Georgia has a statewide standard administered by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council. To satisfy LEOSA annually, a retired officer must qualify with their weapon AND complete at least one hour of Use of Deadly Force training and at least one hour of De-escalation training, all within the same year. A POST-certified firearms instructor documents the qualification and both training components on POST's own Annual Firearms Qualification for Retired Officers (HR218) form; POST then issues a certificate evidencing compliance with 18 U.S.C. § 926C(c)(5).
