How qualification works in California

California has not set a statewide standard for firearms training and qualification. Per the California Attorney General's own summary of LEOSA: "current California law does not set a statewide standard for the training and qualification of active law enforcement officers after graduation from the academy. Standards are established by individual law enforcement agencies for both active and retired officers in those agencies."
